In 2013, Danspace Project’s executive director Judy Hussie-Taylor invited me to be a guest artist curator for one of her signature “Platform” programs.” This was hands down the richest (and most enjoyable) collaborative experience I’ve ever had with an institution. Working closely with the Danspace Project staff and a research assistant over a two-year period, I conceived of, organized, and presented Dancers, Buildings and People in the Streets, a seven-week series (February – March 2015) of readings, talks, performances, and workshops inspired by the figure of poet-critic Edwin Denby and featuring artists whose lineages are associated with Judson Dance Theater, the Merce Cunningham Dance Company, and New York City Ballet.

There’s a 219-page accompanying catalogue, edited by me and Judy and featuring all of the Platform artists, plus Douglas Crimp, Ralph Lemon, Fred Moten, Eileen Myles, Anne Waldman, and others.
